The EEHYC is unique in its goal of linking environment and health issues through meaningful youth participation. It’s more than a network of organisations – its membership is broad and includes youth organizations, informal groups, students, youth professionals, young researchers and activists, young entrepreneurs and young government employees. Membership will primarily be through the formations of national Coalitions. In the first instance these will be formed through the work of National Youth Coordinators (NYC).

Become a member

We want to keep the membership of the Coalition as flexible as possible but at the same time give members an identity of belonging to a dynamic and unique organisation. The Coalition is built to provide a platform that will allow young people from 18 to 35 years to strengthen their participation and bring it to a wider audience of policy and decision makers.

Some criteria for membership haven been drawn up for individuals and organisations. Criteria outline the experience and activities a young person or an organisation wishing to seek membership should meet. All applicants will be asked to complete a membership application form.

INDIVIDUAL – EEHYC members can participate in all the Coalition’s activities but will have no voting rights at international decision-making assemblies or committees.

Full criteria for individual membership can be downloaded from here.
Application form for individuals is avaiable here.

ORGANISATIONAL – EEHYC members (non-governmental or public) can participate in all the Coalition’s activities but will have no voting rights at international decision-making assemblies or committees, unless they are National EEHYCs.

Full criteria for organisational membership can be downloaded from here.
Application form for organisations is available here.

Become a National Youth Coordinator

NYCs’ responsibilities are be to make contact with young people participating through organisations or individually in environment and health activities and discuss with them the idea of coming together to form a national network. This network will then become a coalition of young people active in environment and health initiatives and can apply to join the EEHYC either individually or as organisations.

Coalitions of young people and organisations will organise nationally to become a representative group. Each Coalition will create its own identity but some of the roles they might fulfil include:

● Undertaking Coalition specific projects or bring activities within their member organisations under the umbrella of the Coalition. The Coalition might act to provide a wider representation of organisational member activities.
● Building relationships with the WHO Focal Points positioned within national administrations and preparing joint activities as part of national environment and health action plans.
● Participating in national forums on environment and health.
● Publicising the outcomes of activities through social networking an national media.
● Representing the Coalition at international events.

Terms of refference for NYCs are available for download here.
